Dr. Michael Hayles, CEO, Coat of Many Colors Ministries, Inc.

Dr. Michael Hayles is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coat of Many Colors Ministries, Inc. (CMCM). For over 30 years, Dr. Hayles has been an involved community and non-profit leader throughout western Montgomery and eastern Grimes Counties. A U.S. Army Veteran, Dr. Hayles spent 20 years as an Oil and Gas Industry Executive, has served on the boards pf various foundations and community organizations, and is a pastor in area prisons and churches.

Helping People Gain Independence through Education and Empowerment

Dr. Hayles has been involved in community service since his youth as a Boy Scout (Reached Star Scout) in Jr. High School. As a student, he served as a member of Junior Achievement, a member of the Key Club (Kiwanis International) and a member of the Paramount Club (all social concern organizations).  

A music lover, Dr. Hayles has also been a musician since age eight, when he made his first drum out of a coffee can, a bicycle inner tube, and some string. In high school, he performed as a musician playing percussions and poodwinds for seniors and military veterans.

Dr. Hayles attended Texas Southern University as a music major and played in the “Ocean of Soul.” There, he was also a Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity Member and earned a place in the Texas Intercollegiate All-State Band. Dr. Hayles holds degrees in Business Administration, Ministry, Multimedia, and Information Systems.  

Dr. Hayles was a recipient of the Outstanding Young Men of America Award, Outstanding Christian Leaders Award, and a host of other accolades over his many years of service to the community.

Other ways Dr. Hayles has served our nation and communities:

  • Field Artillery Specialist in the United States Army – 1/78th Field Artillery, 2nd Armored Division – Fort Hood, Texas (1975-1979)
  • Two six-month tours of duty in Grafenwohr, Germany with the 498th Support Battalion, 2d Armored Division (1975 and 1978)
  • Loan Executive for the United Way; a United Way of Greater Houston Project Blueprint graduate and a Leadership Montgomery County Graduate
  • Toastmasters International Area Governor for District 68 while working for Texaco in New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Two terms as President for the Conroe Friendly City Kiwanis Club
  • Board Member of the Montgomery County Food Bank for over 10 years
  • Board Member for Montgomery County Child Protective Services
  • Methodist Minister for over 25 years
  • Associate Minister at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church in Dobbin, Texas
  • Volunteer Chaplain at the Goree and Byrd Units in Huntsville, Texas for over nine  years
  • Certified Volunteer Chaplain Assistant (CVCA) at the Eastham Prison Unit in Lovelady, Texas
  • Human Resources Manager for the Montgomery County Women’s Center (2004-2008)
  • Board Member for The Mighty Men of Valor in Houston, Texas
  • Board Member for the N. H. Davis Museum and The Fernland Historical Park, both located in Montgomery, Texas
  • Serving on the Montgomery County Community Development (CDBG) Fair Housing Committee

Yolanda Perez, CMCM Food Distribution Manager

Yolanda Perez is the CMCM Food Distribution Manager and oversees the day-to-day operation of the CMCM Food Distribution Center.

She is retired from the medical field and now serves clients at CMCM as a part-time staff employee. Ms. Perez has been with CMCM for over eight (8) years and is committed to ensuring that ALL CMCM clients are served with a spirit of love and support as we work to meet the food insufficiency needs of Montgomery County and the surrounding areas.

Ms. Perez or “Ms. Yolanda” as many of our clients and volunteers refer to her is one of the kindest, most caring and loving spirited persons that CMCM has serving its clients.

Maggy Long, CMCM Empowerment Manager

Maggy Long is a native of South Louisiana, now full-time proud H-E-B loving Texan resident.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education  from Southeastern Louisiana University with certifications including Special Education and ESL. She previously taught elementary school in Louisiana and worked with  ministries including family, teen and children. She believes that everyone can be successful no matter their given abilities or disabilities. She is married and has 4 children. She has a heart for serving Christ and serving others. They are very involved in the homeschool community and doing whatever the Lord calls them to do for His Kingdom. She enjoys attending her children’s various sporting events, traveling, baking and volunteering. Her family attends Lonestar Cowboy Church in Montgomery. They feel blessed to live in an amazing community and to be connected with CMCM-Empowerment program: GPS.
